Gratitude for Matriarchal Ancestors and Modern Convienences

Before

Honestly I don't know how women got through their days let alone their lives with out things like dishwashers, washing machines, televisions and canned soup. If I didn't have these things there is a chance that I would have to check myself into an institution for the insane or maybe the criminally insane. So I am sending out, into the past, a huge acknowledgment to all the women down the lines that kept us all alive, loved, nourished and clean. THANK YOU!!!! You are all amazing. I mean some of these women had to make meals for 12 out of pennies or less, they had to wash every fricken thing by hand. BY HAND!! Things like sheets and jeans. If you go back far enough some women had to worry about being burnt at the stake for using plants to heal their loved ones. I am feeling luckier, safer, more blessed by the second here. You see I woke up under a black cloud of crankiness known to many as PMS. Well, at some point before things got out of hand I became aware of what my problem (thanks Mr. Tolle) was and I made a choice to do my best to remain conscious of this fact, this chemical component in my body and not let it spread out of me into the world like some nasty contagious infection. And it has led to these ponderings, this awareness of our collective female pain body and what that carries. A lot kids, it's a lot. So, from my heart, to all the women still suffering under the hand of whatever mechanism that feels the need to crush women's spirits and bodies past, present and future, I am sending my love to you, to us and am praying to the Great Mother and Spirit to help us all awaken to the moment we are in, to the feeling of gratitude, and to the truth of our each individual and collective existences.
Peace!!

Well, let me see, where have I been? I have been here, mothering I suppose. It does take up the majority of my time and energy. So my Etsy shop is bare at the moment. I have put all of my pieces into a couple different stores. Have you seen OhKuol? It is a great store here in Vancouver that sells jewellery and bags and clothes all from different local artists. So some stuff is there and some stuff is in my home town at a store called East of Java. It is in PortMcNeill. If you are ever on the North Island check it out!
So I have this friend who lives so far away. She is getting married this month and I cannot go. I suck! So I wanted to do something special to assuage my guilt and to let her know that even though I can't get my shit together enough to come to her wedding I do love her. So I made her a necklace.

So now I have to get organized and start making things again. I have so many ideas but I just can't seem to clear up my work station or tear myself away from the TV and computer. It is a mental block I am having. But it won't last long, so stay tuned and the new stuff will start pouring in. =)

New Year

A whole new year, it's like a blank slate isn't it? Well, I have some goals, not resolutions, but goals, and of course I have some obstacles, but that is just an excuse isn't it? Well, the goal is to list everyday. Everyday list an item or more in the shop. Well my camera is not really up to par and there just isn't enough time in the day to photograph and list let alone to make stuff. But I am not giving up. Nonono. These aren't listed yet because I am not entirely happy with the pictures, but here they are anyhow...

Thank you, thank you , thank you!!

Thank you Georgia and everybody who came to my jewellery show on Saturday. It was the first time I had ever done something like that and it was very encouraging. I would like to especially like to thank Georgia for hosting. Her apartment is gorgeous and really made my jewellery look glamorous and everyone was loving the perfect view of the river and the rain. I would love to do little parties like that some more so I will just let you all know, that as a hostess (or host) you will recieve 10% off any jewellery you want plus 10% of my total sales for the night will be credited towards any items you want. And I love doing custom stuff with your intentions lovingly placed right into the piece and stones especially picked for your needs so feel free to contact me about designing something before your show!

Shows and Sales

Hi Folks! Well I haven't been blogging much lately, mostly due to a lack of pictures. But recently I have been creating like a mad little gnome because this weekend, I have 2 different shows coming up. Welll, the first isn't so much a show, it is actually Maternal Creations. This will be the second time I have participated in this show and I am very excited and honored to be a part of it. It is full of amazing creations by very talented mama's. So it takes place this Friday and Saturday, November 20 and 21 from 5:30 pm to 8:30 pm at Little Nest on Commercial drive. I will be there on the Friday evening. Come check it out. Last year there was a lady named Anna there who made the most beautiful handmade dolls and I bought a little pirate for Sadie. I hope she is there again. Also my lovely friend Shael will also be there selling her gorgeous handmade goodies. The sale I am having is at my friend Georgia's place. She has been so kind as to host a jewellery party for me. She is even serving some refreshments! So it is an open house sort of thing from 1pm until 5pm on Saturday. I am very excited about both of these events. I would love to see you all at one or the other, so come on out if it is at all possible. Feel free to email me if you need any more details.

I am having a jewellery sale on November 21st. A friend of mine has been very gracious and offered to host it at her place from 1 pm to 5pm. If you are interested in coming please email me for more details. I have been making alot of jewellery but really I have so many more ideas than time. And getting pictures is practically impossible so there haven't been any blog posts or Etsy listings. I did do a custom bracelet adn I am hoping and waiting to hear from the lady who purchased it. I am really nervous about the shipping. Usually the post office ladies have you fill out a customs thing, but this time she didn't so I am concerned that it will get hung up in customs or worse just go missing. That has happened to me 2 times when I bought stuff. The seller of one of the purchases was really great and sent a replacement item. Well, here are some sneak peaks for you. Take care and be well!
